Confusion species

Many species of Phyllonorycter are extremely similar, great care should be given when separating these species. It is often impossible to separate the adults of some species.

Wherever the foodplant is found.

Foodplant

Alder.

Lifestage data

Leaf miner. Eggs laid on underside of leaf. Larva forms a large mine, 25mm from the midrib to the edge of the leaf. Pupates in an off white cocoon within the mine.
