UK Status Resident. Widespread and locally common throughout Britain. Montgomeryshire Status Infrequently recorded in the county. Wingspan : M & F, 9-10mm. Confusion species Many species of Phyllonorycter are extremely similar, great care should be given when separating these species. It is often impossible to separate the adults of some species. |

(Univoltine?)  Habitat Wherever the foodplant is found. Foodplant Alder. Lifestage data Leaf miner. Eggs laid on underside of leaf. Larva forms a large mine, 25mm from the midrib to the edge of the leaf. Pupates in an off white cocoon within the mine. |
